Introduction to Zread

Zread is a fresh new look at keeping financial records in the cash business industry. It’s been designed to give the small / medium cash business owner, a simple way to keep control of income and costs, and know how their business is performing on a daily basis. Most small / medium business owners can't afford to have an accountant look at their books each day, but they need to know what the days trading figures have been, and what it’s cost to produce those figures.

The software won't eliminate your accountant. You'll still need them to calculate your yearly tax, claim any depreciation on your equipment and claim all the other deductions allowable under law.

Zread operates over a 53 week period. At the end of that period, you may choose to subscribe for a further 53 weeks, where you will have access to the comparison figures from the previous 12 months, as well as all the information you have collected over the year. You will also be able to view the entire previous year’s data at any stage.

If you do not wish to enter into a further subscription, copy last years figures onto a disk, then initialise your original software and continue to use Zread as you did from the start. Any data entered during the first 53 weeks will not be accessible from the initialized copy.

Features

Master File
- View your financial status at a glance

The Master File is where you add up your cash takings, credit cards, cheques, and any eftpos payments. It gives you an estimated daily running cost, a very important break even point, and most importantly, shows your profit or loss on a weekly basis. It’s where you enter all the fixed and variable costs for your business. The Master File keeps an estimate of your BAS commitment on a weekly basis and prints out a weekly summary of all receipts and costs. Look at the figures at the bottom of the page and know where your business is going on a daily basis.

Payouts File
- Keep track of all purchases
and any staff cash advances

The Payouts File keeps an accurate record of all payouts, a total of the weekly GST paid on purchases and a progressive yearly total on both amounts. It keeps a week by week record and a yearly progressive record of each individual supplier. The Payouts File is where you keep a record of any cash advances you’ve made to your staff against their wages.

Wages File
- Know exactly how much it costs to employ staff

The Wages File is where you record all the information needed to employ staff. Type in the staff tax threshold, the individual hourly rate, any overtime or penalty rates and the hours worked. The Wages file lets you look at all your staff member’s details on the one page. It allows you to keep track of the hours worked and what those hours have cost you.

The Wages File uses the Tax Office tax sheet (NAT 1005-05.2006) to calculate the tax and deduct that amount from the gross wages. It prints a payslip for each staff member with all inclusions and deductions noted, it gives a progressive total of nett wages, tax deducted and any super you contribute. The super component is supplied as a guide only, we advise you to ask your accountant for the correct percentage rate if you need to use this features. The Wages File is also where you record any meals you may supply to your staff.
